The X Jet was flying over a different country for the third time in four days. Inside was Christina, with her best friend Sasha beside her. Sasha was the unspoken leader of the mission; given she had was calm in difficult situations and was not emotionally attached to the mission as Christina was.
"According to the map," Sasha said as she brought up the map on the X Jet's computer screen. "Everett's head is somewhere in an ice cave about five hundred miles West of the South Pole." "There is no West of the South Pole," Christina said flatly. "Everyway from there is North." Sasha thought about this for a moment, and realisation dawned on her. "d**n. Well it's here," she pointed at a red x on the map, which was on the left hand side of Antarctica; between the Ross and Ronne Ice Shelves.

As the weather grew colder the fire in the centre of the jet got larger. George was that fire in the centre. He had come on this mission to provide warmth for the girls. Little did the girls know that they each had a fire elf for this mission.

Horace sat at the back of the X Jet, wringing his hands together. He didn't like snow. Not after he almost suffocated under a few tonnes of the stuff a few days prior. And outside it was blizzarding.
The X Jet reached the mountain in which the ice cave was situated, and it landed at the mouth of the cave.

Dorian rubbed his hands together to try an get warm as the X-Jet landed at the ice cave.
Dorian wasn't entirely sure about what the mission was. Something about getting a head? Anyway, he didn't really care. He was just glad to be of help.

Christina glanced over at Dorian. She and Sasha had decided they needed someone intelligent to help them with the search, and who could also look after themselves, and Dorian seemed to be it. Plus, it was always good to interact with other mutants and see what they're capable of.
"Right, is everyone ready?" Sasha asked. "Let's go!"
And so she and Christina exited the X Jet and trooped off into the depths of the ice cave.

Three fire elves emerged from the fire, George jumped in Sasha's backpack, Carrigan jumped in Dorians, Susan jumped in Christinas. They were there to give the humans warmth.

Just as they jumped in to the cave Jake woke up, jake was freezing cold and was situated near the back of the plane. Just as they jumped Jake got up in a really big hurry, as he did so he fell over and hit his head on the side of the chair where he was sitting.
Jake woke up about 10 minutes after and seen that everyone had left the plane so he got up and put on a big fur coat jacket and walked out of the X jet and went in to the ice cave, as he did so a little thing that appeared to be a fire elf jumped into his backpack. Jake soon caught up to Sasha, Christina and Dorian where he followed them through the cave, Jake felt really sick and was extremly dizzy.

Christina looked around briefly and caught sight of Jake. He was pale and looked sick. She doubled back over to him and put a hand on his shoulder. "Are you okay?" she asked.
Sasha gently picked George up from out of her backpack and put him on the ground. "I don't need you to keep me warm," she said softly as she mutated. She grinned a fishy grin. "Besides, you're more use to us humanised, just in case anything goes -" Sasha stopped short. She heard something around the bend in the tunnel, a chattering, squeaking and also splashing noise. She poked her head out and stared into a huge cavern, with a large pool in the centre. And splashing, were penguins. "They're just penguins," she sighed to the others. "They won't bite." Sasha rounded the corner and went into the cavern.

"Crap," Christina muttered as Jake fell on her. She hauled him up and leaned him against a boulder. She picked up the fire elf in her backpack and put it in Jake's pocket to help keep him warm.
Sasha didn't notice. She walked to the edge of the pool and looked down into it. The rippling water was a very dark blue, meaning the water was very deep. She stripped off her various gadgets and looked down into the water. Around her the penguins were splashing and chattering. Sasha looked around at the other mutants. "I'm going in," she said. "The water's too cold for the rest of you." Without waiting for an answer, Sasha dove in. The water was extremely cold, but Sasha barely felt it as she swam downwards, looking around and breathing normally through her gills. She looked around as she swam, but didn't really need to. The pool had very sheer walls. Sasha would be able to see an alcove or something. She just hoped she wouldn't have to swim to the dark bottom of the pool, if there was one.

Jake woke up after Christina put the fire elf in his pocket, Jake then said to Christina "thank you very much for helping me, leave me and go and help Sasha get the 2nd piece, ill be fine, just make sure Sasha and yourself are looked after" Jake then leant up against the rock and watched Sasha swim throught the ice cold water.

George having being warm so far, turned into a human, then turned back to a fire elf. "Don't like it here." He said simply. The other fire elves where being passed around like hot plates, as they were the main source of warmth.

Sasha was still swimming. Now it was so dark she could barely see, so she switched on an underwater torch that she had slung around her shoulder. The water was so eerie. Sasha had rarely gone this deep, and it still unsettled her. The pressure was building up with each inch she descended. She looked around her, now aided by the torch, and to her relief, she spotted something in the wall to her right. An alcove, with a dark box-like shape inside. She swam forward and ran her fingers over it, examining it closely. It was smaller than the box they found in the Amazon, and it was made out of steel with thick brackets sealing the edges and corners, making it water tight. There was a handle on the side facing Sasha. She planted her webbed feet on the wall and tugged it with both hands. It wouldn't budge; presumably bonded to the ice, but after a good few minutes of pulling, it came free. She pulled the box right out of the alcove and it dropped, yanking her down with it. She kicked her feet out hard, and she stopped sinking. It took her at least ten minutes to swim to the surface; the weight of the box dragged her down quite a bit, and by the time Sasha pushed the box onto the ice at the surface and climbed out, she was exhausted.
Christina smiled when she saw Sasha merge from the water, and she hoisted Jake up, pulling his arm over her shoulders, ready to help him get back to the X Jet.

The penguins suddenly stopped what the where doing, They lined up around the X jet, making a barrier, while some stood at the doorway to the cave. They charged at the intruders.

Christina squealed slightly as the penguins charged, chattering angrily. What had made them do that? There was only one explanation. "There's another mutant here!" she yelled as she dragged Jake towards the Jet, shooting acid randomly at the penguins.
Sasha hauled herself to her feet and grabbed the box. She carried it with her as she ran. She was about fifty metres from the Jet when she stumbled, and the box tumbled away from her with a series of crashes. The penguins converged on her immediately.
