Name: Samara Evelyn Morgan
Age: 8
Date of Birth: 8th February
Height: 4'2"
Nationality: American
Image Inducer Mutant: No.
Appearance:
Personality: Samara is generally a very nice girl, but is prone to negative emotions, such as anger, sadness, fear and shame. She is very shy, and is very withdrawn.
Family:
Evelyn (last name unknown) – Biological mother
Richard Morgan – Former Adopted Father
Anna Morgan – Former Adopted Mother - Deceased
History: Samara Morgan was born to a single mother, known only as Evelyn, at Saint Mary Magdalene Women's Shelter in Washington state. Evelyn was aware early on that Samara was no ordinary baby. Evelyn tried to drown Samara in a decorative pool at the shelter, saying that she had been told to by "the voice of God". This is definitely one of the contributions to Samara’s fear of water. After that, shelter administrators decided to put Samara up for adoption, and Evelyn was sent to a psychiatric hospital.
Samara was adopted by horse ranchers Richard and Anna Morgan from Moesko Island, who had tried and failed at numerous ways, both medical and holistic, to have a child of her own. Samara was raised on the Morgan Ranch with the Morgans and led a fairly normal life. During this time, Samara had an invisible friend named Sadako.
However, when she was six years old, Samara's parents put her in a psychiatric hospital, as many of the horses at the ranch had died, and Richard and Anna said that Samara caused it, as she had complained about the horses keeping her up at night. At the institution, medical studies showed that Samara was a mutant, and possessed a rare mutant ability known as "nensha" or "projected thermography". One particular psychiatrist, who was a mutant, realized that Samara needed to be sent to the Xavier Institute for Gifted Youngsters.
However, her parents did not agree to this, as they believed her to be a demon. They attempted to kill Samara by throwing her down a well, breaking both her arms and both her legs. Samara was near death when, on the seventh day of her confinement to the well, she was rescued when a social worker heard her crying. This was the last time that Samara saw Sadako.
Samara, having made a full physical recovery, now lives at the Xavier Institute for Gifted Youngsters. However, a lot of people find her "strange and creepy", and she doesn’t have many friends.
Mutation: Samara has a version of the ability of nensha, or projected thermography, the ability to psychically "burn" images from one's mind onto surfaces, or even into the minds of others. Samara's ability is not as violent as that of actual nensha, as she does not burn the images onto a person's mind, merely places them there. However, the images she creates on objects do appear as though they have been burned onto the surface.
Skills: Samara is a very strong-willed person, and can withstand a large amount of both physical and mental abuse. Because of her small size, she can fit into places that people her age usually couldn’t.
Weaknesses: Samara’s main weakness is, understandably, her extreme aquaphobia (fear of water). She cannot swim, or even stand at the edge of swimming pools, the ocean, lakes or rivers. If she does, she will become violent, irrational, and will lash out at anyone who tries to force her near or into the water. In fact, the largest amount of water that she can comfortably come into contact with is a bath, and even then, her head must stay above-water at all times.
Samara is also an insomniac, and finds it difficult to get to sleep at night.
At times, such as when she is feeling negative emotions, Samara cannot control her powers. More than once, she has woken up to find the silhouette of the well burned into a wall.
Role Play Example: Samara sat beneath a tree at the Xavier Institute for Gifted Youngsters, her hands placed on her knees, just staring ahead with blank intent. She had another nightmare last night. She was in the well again, only, as always in her nightmares, no-one came. So, today was one of those days were she didn’t speak to anyone. She just sat there, a blank expression on her face, staring off into space.
